چکیده
dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, low-grade sarcoma with a tendency for recurrence. The overall annual incidence is 4.2 per million, or 0.1% of all cancers. It tends to affect young to middle-aged adults and occurs more often in blacks than in whites, with no sex predilection. Dermatofibrosarcoma presents as a flesh-colored, violaceous, or reddish-brown nodule with persistent but indolent growth and is commonly located on the trunk. It rarely metastasizes, but when it does, it is most often to the lungs. Histopathologically, DFSP is a tumor consisting of spindled cells in a storiform pattern. It infiltrates the dermis, the subcutaneous fat, and even the fascia. Tumor cells stain positive for CD34 and negative for factor XIIIa.

DFSP: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans INTRODUCTION Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an uncommon, soft tissue sarcoma of mesenchymal origin characterized by its slow, infiltrative growth pattern and high risk of local recurrence after standard surgical excision. We describe a young man with a recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans after wide local excision treated with neoadjuvant im...
متن کاملMohs Micrographic Surgery for Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans of the Vulva
Introduction. Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare cutaneous tumour of low/intermediate malignant potential, which occasionally arises on the vulva. Historically, the treatment has been wide local excision (WLE). Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is now recommended to ensure precise margin control. MMS to treat DFSP of the trunk and extremities is well documented. However, no report t...
متن کاملNodular Fasciitis Complicating a Staged Surgical Excision of Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an unusual spindle cell tumor with a high rate of local recurrence with traditional excision. Fortunately, Mohs micrographic surgery yields excellent cure rates for this neoplasm due to contiguous tumor spread and meticulous tumor mapping and margin analysis. We present the unique case of a patient treated with a modified Mohs technique with an analysis...

OBJECTIVE To summarize evidence about the recurrence of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) following Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). DATA SOURCES MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Pascal, Biosis, CisMef, BDSP, Scopus, and Web of Knowledge databases were searched for the period January 1, 1995, to August 31, 2011. Search terms were Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans...
متن کاملTreatment of malignant fibrous histiocytoma and atypical fibrous xanthomas with micrographic surgery.
Fibrous tumors of the soft tissue are usually benign, but some fibrous neoplasms such as dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX), and malignant fibrohistiocytoma (MFH) can be very destructive locally with a high recurrence rate after local excision. On occasion, they can metastasize. Previous reports have confirmed the high success rate of Mohs micrographic surgery ...
